My first experience with wanting to federate artists for greater visibility was thirty years ago when I co-founded the association « Clip’Art, » a Trampoline for Artists.

When it was time for me to find a theme for my first year of master’s studies, the choice was obvious: What is the impact of algorithms on the visibility of small businesses in Europe, and how can they adapt to thrive in the e-commerce world?

My conclusion was that it is very challenging for an artist to find enough time to manage effective communication. This includes creating multiple pages on their site, posting on social media at least once a week, obtaining backlinks, and staying updated on keyword trends.

For my final year Master’s thesis project, I aim to extend the reflections from my first year’s work. Therefore, I want to test if a federation of artists can work to increase visits, interaction rates, and, most importantly, sales on art websites. I intend to bring together around fifty artists to find out how to make SEO work for them, and to develop an easy-to-use system for exchanging comments, likes, backlinks, and relevant keywords.

As a sculptor myself, I have often pondered what would truly benefit artists and what would not. The financial uncertainty that comes with producing art—without knowing if it will sell—can be daunting. Artists frequently display their work without payment and sometimes even pay for the privilege to exhibit. That’s why it’s crucial for Art Boost Hub to remain free for all artists.
